BiblioWorks has teamed up with two great projects, Inti and Cara a Cara, to be able to bring the joys of art to 31 children in Bolivia.
Inti is a magazine produced by and for children whom, because of economic strains are forced to work. They sell the magazine in the city of Sucre and keep half of the earnings for school supplies and other materials their families need.
Cara a Cara, based in the United Kingdom is a group of 14 artists living in London, who participated in the project by each painting one or more of the 31 children involved.
The 31 children, 20 from the BiblioWorks library in Tomina and 11 from Inti, also participated by each drawing one of the artists based on a photo of each artist.
Now the project is in its final push, a series of gallery exhibitions in downtown London. All of the portraits of the children and artists are on sale through an online auction and there is also a book with all of the portraits for sale.
All earnings from this project will be used to work with children who sell the Inti magazine and children in the community of Tomina to improve literacy, creativity and critical thinking through books, trainings and art.
