Padilla was one of the largest headquarters for the revolutionaries of the war for independence in Bolivia. The town got its name from the main leader Manuel Ascencio Padilla. It is located in a valley where the temperature fluctuates very little.

The library is a collaborative project with Across the Globe Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit that supports children and families living in impoverished environments.

The opening of the library on June 20th, 2016 was met with great success! A large ceremony was held in which both the President of the Municipality and the Director of Education in Padilla attended and spoke. Children from 6 different schools as well as many members of the community were at the inauguration, making the total turnout around 200 people!
