Located about 2.5 miles from the city center of Sucre, Barrio Japón sports spectacular views of the city (especially at sunset!). Unfortunately, Barrio Japón also struggles with crime, poverty, child neglect and child abuse. Our newest library serves as a safe haven for these children after school, where they can enjoy books, games, videos and computer resources as well as a front patio ideally suited for a little hopscotch or soccer. As you can imagine, it’s packed nearly every day!

The library is a collaborative project with Across the Globe Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit that supports children and families living in impoverished environments.
