I don’t believe in art, I believe in artists. -Marcel Duchamp

Today we piled into a taxi, and though two hours late, we did it. We painted Pampa Aceituno! For those of you who don’t know, Pampa Aceituno is our newest, 9th library, and we are giving it deserved love. Our morning started off painfully slow, realizing, “We don’t have the paint!” and, “We don’t know where the taxi driver is!” but they both arrived and the piling began.

Taxis here are a thing to be appreciated: five medium-sized and two tiny people (plus the driver) squashed into a small moving vehicle which got us up a hill that would otherwise have taken an hour and a half to climb, and haul paint supplies…and the driver happened to be an amazing painter! Jaime, a friend of Maritza, was our knight in shining armor, and not only got our lazy bums up the hill, but helped us paint!

Karen has posted pictures below but all I can say is, it is beautiful! I don’t know why, but I am always surprised at how talented and motivated our “crew” is. We hand-mixed sky blue, sunny yellow and lilac-y purple and Liz, Matt and Frances created three awesome murals on our freshly-painted white walls. All in all we made the space a rainbow of calm and warm and can’t wait to get it all finished.

So! Get excited, because not only are we loving on our newest library, we are loving on all of them and have big plans in the making. Stay posted, we have new volunteers, radio shows and projects coming!!!

Love, Erin
